All of our tutors hold a college degree and have experience working one-on-one with students.

Lena Eivy

Lena EivyAfter completing her Masters in Teaching, Lena spent three years working in a private school teaching math. She has been tutoring professionally for over 10 years with students as young as 3rd grade and as old 12th grade. Lena incorporates her knowledge of different math curricula, including Singapore Math, to promote deeper understanding of concepts. In addition to math, she specializes in study skills and writing using the 6 traits of good writing as her foundation. Lena is available to come to your home, library, or tutor on the Forest Ridge Campus.

Alissa Mortenson

Alissa Mortenson has been tutoring professionally for nearly 10 years. After graduating from the UW in 2002, she worked for Kaplan for three years, tutoring all sections of the ACT and SAT, and eventually training other tutors and writing curriculum for the New SAT study materials they rolled out when the SAT changed. She always works to reduce anxiety and promote true understanding of the fundamentals, rather than emphasizing rote memorization and drills. Alissa specializes in academic math from 5th grade through Calculus, as well as standardized test prep for all sections of the SAT, SAT Subject Tests, ACT, GRE, and GMAT. She is available to tutor on the Forest Ridge campus and the Newport Way library in Bellevue, and on the Seattle Academy of Arts and Sciences campus, the VIctrola on 15th Ave E, and the Tullys on 19th Ave E and Aloha in Seattle.
